"Land Administration encompasses four fields i.e. land tenure, land use, land value and land development. These four fields are also referred to as land management practices. This course focuses on the land management practices in the context of the policy frameworks and sustainable development. The land management paradigm is used a guiding framework. The land management paradigm stresses the relationship between land policy and the four land administration functions i.e. land tenure, land value, land use and land development – and the wider societal goals. As such, legal frameworks, institutions, processes, interventions, successes and challenges are discussed in the context of social, economic, environmental pillars of development. Further, how these land management practices also link with emerging issues such as climate change are also discussed. The course therefore addresses both conventional and innovative ways of land management, promoting a paradigm shift towards responsible land administration.
